Generation X. Born and raised in Tbilisi. Georgia, Marika grew up in Moscow, Russia. Moved to New York by the age of 20, lived and worked in the USA for over 20 years.
Received professional education as Screenwriter for Film and Television in VGIK (Institute of Cinema), Moscow, Russia.
Received professional education as Director for Film and Television in Columbia University School of the Arts, New York, USA.
Due to the private matter life circumstances made a decision of not percuing the Film career, and right after the film school ended up in Fashion, and soon enough eventually designed and produced clothing for two self owned designer fashion lines – Dadiani Salerno NY and DADO NY.
With the changes in the Fashion Market, Marika moves on to the Contemporary Art content production, and given the film education, pursues Video Art, explores conceptual art and the curating.
Shew debuts in Visual Arts as Video Artist in2009 at the 53rd Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art: Special Project “My Momento Vid”, within the framework of “Markers / Détournement” | Venice, Italy. Multimedia Art and Installation debut happenes in 2010 with solo exhibition “Water and The Being, or Neonarcissism” at MMOMA (Moscow Museum of Modern Art) Russia.
Latter, participates in such selected exhibitions as: “Workshop Noise” | installation, in the framework of the Special. Project “Spiritual Liturgy” at the III Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, Russia. Shiryaevo Biennale of Contemporary Art, the program: “America between Europe and Asia”, Russia.
Mail Art «Any Penny» First South Russian Biennale of Contemporary Art in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. Exhibited within “War and Peace”, VI international exhibition “Artists’ Books”. CHA. Moscow, Russia, and “Guerra E Pace” Mostra internazionale del LIBRO d’ARTISTA e QUASI-LIBRO, Milano, Italy.
Art performance “Art Aquarius” at the Center for Contemporary Art, Tbilisi, Georgia in 2012. Debuted in Art Curating as a Creative Director of the Multimedia Art Projects “Loft in the Red Zone” and “No Comment Art” on Wall Street / JP Morgan “Corner Building”, NYC, USA, for the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
Also produced, curated and exhibited video art and installation within “Tetraktis” | Special Project of the V Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2013.
Often visiting Moscow, after participating an a number of big gallery and museum shows, for a while Marika gets involved in Art Residency programing and art directing for International Art Hub „Guslitsa“ in Russia.
In 2015 Marika settles back in NY, explores The Art World, curates small shows and video art screenings, works in galleries, art fairs and privately, with a few american contemporrary artists.
In 2017 Marika meets reknown american artist Mcarthur Binion, who soom becomes the protagonist of her first documentary, recently released (2021) „Stuttering : Standing : Swtill (Afterthoughts). Currently, Marika is in post-production of her second documentary film „The Holy Dress“, which takes placer in Georgia.
